About the Author
Jung Chang was born in Yibin, Sichuan Province, China, in 1952. She has lived an extraordinary life from being a Red Guard, peasant, barefoot doctor, steelworker, and electrician, to becoming the first person from the Peoples Republic of China to earn a doctorate from a British university.

Her landmark memoir, Wild Swans, won the 1992 NCR Book Award and the 1993 British Book of the Year, and has sold over 10 million copies worldwide. She is also the author of several acclaimed historical biographies. Jung Chang lives in London.
